Dean Race has been mining in historical Chicken, Alaska for the past 16-years. Franklin Bar, on the south fork of the Forty-mile Mining District, was discovered in 1886, and turned out to be one of the largest gold discoveries in Alaska. Goldfever Prospecting currently holds 20-miles of claims near this famous discovery.

Goldfever Prospecting holds a two-hour training session on the first two days of your trip, with ongoing instruction and assistance throughout your stay. They will instruct you on dredging, high banking, fine gold recovery, panning and sniping.

GoldFever Prospecting has 3-inch, 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch dredges on the river, as well as High Bankers, Sluice boxes and a Goldfield Shaker. The 8-inch and 10-inch dredges are serious production dredges. These dredges have been known to produce up to ten ounces of gold per 12-hour run. The Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost, is in the center of Chicken, Alaska. It's built on the site of a camp established in the 1930s by the Fairbanks Exploration Company for mining Chicken Creek with the “Pedro Dredge,” now a National Historic Site.
